This is where I developed familiarity with PHP and wrapping mockups around a CMS — I probably wouldn’t have the experience I have with webdesign or WordPress if not for this site and its many iterations.
Once a forum with hundreds of active members, the site went into archive-only mode in 2015 after 6+ years of use.
- Gaming/Music/Entertainment Blog and Community Forum.
- Content Management System / Forum: Simple Machines Forum 1.1.x.
- Included custom implementation of the Disqus comment system into SMF, which I wrote a tutorial for.
This website was a forum / community for all of the friends that I made playing games over the years — before that most of us were brought together by a World of Warcraft guild that we were all a part of many years ago. Back when forums were the go-to for communication on the web, the site was how we all stayed in touch even if we weren’t all playing the same game anymore 🙂
At the height of its activity, the site got notable traffic for its music, game, and hardware reviews. A few musicians commented on our album reviews and we received test hardware from a few manufacturers as well.
